Suns Excited For Return To Run-And-Gun

The Suns are preparing for a full-season of their run-and-gun attack with Shaquille O'Neal no longer in Phoenix.

Steve Nash said Monday that the team enters training camp with "a clear vision of how we're going to play."

Phoenix failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2004 last season in a tumultuous year that saw head coach Terry Porter fired at the All-Star break.

"We've got to reinstate the culture that we had here," new coach Alvin Gentry said. "We're going to attack. We're going to score a lot of points."

Gentry Plans To Rest Stars Late In Games

Suns coach Alvin Gentry is hoping that the team's depth with allow him to rest his stars at the end of games.

"I don't mind having that problem," Gentry told the Arizona Republic of having depth. "That's the best you could possibly hope for. I do think there'll be a battle for playing time, and that should make camp very interesting.

"I wish we could play 10 guys, so that we have enough confidence and have Steve, Grant and Amaré fresh down the stretch, where they're not asked to play the last 11 minutes of the game."

Nash, 35, played in 73 games last season, averaging 33.6 minutes per contest. Hill, who will turn 37 next week, averaged 29.8 minutes per game in 2008-09.
