Los Angeles Clippers WiretapClippers Broadcasters, Haddadi MeetA pair of Clippers broadcasters met with Grizzlies center Hamed Haddadi on Sunday, where they expressed regret for an incident earlier this month. Clippers play-by-play man Ralph Lawler and color analyst Michael Smith earned a one-game suspension for comments made about Haddadi on Nov. 18. Lawler and Smith made off-the-cuff remarks about Haddadi, who was born in Iran. "It went really well," Lawler told the Associated Press, before Sunday's game between the Clippers and Grizzlies. "It was really good to get a chance to shake his hand and look him in the eye. We reached out to him, he reached back, and I feel real good about it." "I can visualize a Clippers parade," he says. "I'm telling you, I will win. I promise you that. I will find the combination. "How long am I going to live? Forever? I will do whatever it takes. I think the Clippers can pay more than any team in America. We have unlimited resources. I'd be thrilled to pay [$121 million as the Lakers will do this season] and do it tomorrow, if I could only sign quality players who warranted it." When Kobe Bryant was a free agent in 2004, Mike Dunleavy told Sterling that he had worked out a deal to sign the All-Star from the Lakers. "I drove from my house in Malibu to the Four Seasons in Newport Beach to meet Kobe and Kobe said I didn't need to say anything because he was going to be a Clipper," Sterling says, a day later learning Bryant had been convinced by Buss to remain with the Lakers. The duo were penalized by the Fox Sports Prime Ticket cable network. Lawler and Smith made comments about the Iranian-born center during Wednesday night's telecast from Memphis. They did not work Friday night's game against the Nuggets. "That's unfortunate. It was pretty strange not seeing them there," Clippers guard Baron Davis said. "Ralph and Mike are very classy guys, and they didn't do it to hurt anyone. "A lot of times when you're commenting on games, it's a source of entertainment. And a lot of times, people may take offense. But the viewers need to understand that it's entertainment, and people are entitled to their opinion. I stand by Ralph and Mike because they're great guys and they only want to support and help everybody in the league."
