I know you’re probably tired to hearing about them by now, but my Pacers pulled off a narrow victory over the hapless Bucks last night. That, coupled with an Orlando loss to Detroit, puts them just a game out of playoff contention. There’s nothing I’d like more than a sweep at the hands of the rival Pistons right now.

Big Macs Cause Controversy: With the game well in hand, several New York Knick players accused the Bulls of running up the score in an effort to reward their loyal fans. If Chicago, who won 98-69, reached the one-hundred point mark the crowd would have received free McDonalds’ Big Macs. Steve Francis and Nate Robinson got into the faces of Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha as the game ended. They had to be restrained while entering the locker room, especially the expensive Jerome James, who was adamant about going after Thomas. The brawl between the Nuggets and Knicks in January started when New York took exception after accusing Denver of the same thing. In my opinion, the best part of this was Skiles’ comments in the postgame.

Griz Nab Worst Record: The Kings 112-100 victory over the Grizzles on Tuesday night guaranteed Memphis the NBA’s worst record for the 2006-2007 season. At 19-60, the Grizzles will have the best shot at landing the first overall pick in the 2007 Draft next month when the Lottery is held. Kevin Durant and Julian Wright have already declared for early-entry, will Oden make it official soon? Memphis would love the opportunity to choose between the two freshmen studs, but both are legitimate top choices – can the Grizzles go wrong?

KG Out Indefinitely: Minnesota forward Kevin Garnett will be sidelined indefinitely due to a right quad injury. Garnett and his agent decided that it would best to not play while he receives a second opinion on the nagging injury. GM Kevin McHale said yesterday that The Big Ticket will miss at least two of the Timberwolves’ remaining five games. I hate to be pessimistic Minnesotans, but one has to wonder whether or not we’ve seen Garnett’s last game as the Timberwolves’ heart-and-soul. Trade rumors intensified around the deadline this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear talks pick up once again once the summer arrives.

CJ Meets With Lions: Top NFL draft prospect Calvin Johnson met with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, and left with a pleasant taste in his mouth. I wonder how that happened. The Lions were rated the worst sports franchise (122nd) in all of the four major sports by the annual ESPN Sports Nation poll recently. Still unaware of which team will draft him come the end of the month, Johnson commented on his enjoyment in visiting different places. Why on earth would Detroit draft yet another wide receiver in the draft? They have some talented guys at the position, Roy Williams and Mike Furrey, just to name a few. A talented young quarterback or someone to help the defense would make more sense. That is unless they plan on starting Shelton, Connecticut native, Dan Orlovsky when Kitna and/or McCown go down. Sounds good to me, I’m tired of being the most famous person from Shelton (just kidding).

Snow Out At Wrigley: The Cubs/Astros game in Chicago on Wednesday was snowed out, the game will be re-played in mid-July after the all-star break. We are talking about snow out in Major League Baseball people, its mid-April! By now we’ve usually seen some temperatures in the sixties and seventies in the Northeast; instead it’s hovering around freezing. We’re expecting some snow in New England tomorrow, from the same storm that causes the postponement of the game at Wrigley. Mother Nature can be a beast.

Felix Outduels Dice K: I thought I was going to catch a no-hitter live last night as I watched Felix Hernandez mow down Boston hitters faster than Dice-K downs Japanese beer. Hernandez’s no-hitter was broken up in the eight inning on a streaker hit by J.D. Drew. Felix remained in the game, and composed himself well through a complete game performance for the ages. With billions of people watching the match-up between Daisuke Matsuzaka and Ichiro Suzuki, Hernandez stole the show with a dazzling effort against of one baseball’s best line-ups. He came up one hit away from immortality, but it was a performance to remember nonetheless.

The Video of the Day: Quite possibly the greatest play in the history of major league baseball…on a video game console.
